TOPIC: Jordan’s Principle

PRESENTATION: Jordan’s Principle: Jordan’s Principle ensures all First Nations children can access the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. It can help with a wide range of health, social and educational needs. Jordan’s Principle is named in memory of Jordan River Anderson. He was a young boy from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba.
SPEAKER: Darlene Curci: Darlene is a Jordan’s Principle Off-Reserve Advocate, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs – E.A.G.L.E. Urban Transition Centre. Darlene studied Psychology at the University of Manitoba to help her balance out the Traditional Anishinaabe educational upbringing she was immersed in all her life.Outside of her professional role, Darlene keeps connected with her Anishinaabe culture, she is a strong believer in bridging Traditional knowledge with Western Academic knowledge. Having this kind of background provides Darlene a well rounded world view to articulate in both worlds, as she continues to promote Jordan’s Principle initiatives and internal wellness campaigns to assist family, friends and colleagues with effective well-being techniques. Developing “connections” is the foundation of everything Darlene does, both professionally and personally.
