Adolescent Parent Day is a free annual event held for adolescent expectant parents and those already parenting. Participants may attend along with their children and service providers, or they may come on their own. The day is packed full of activities, entertainment, speakers, and food. It is an extremely fun day for all those involved.
Each spring, APIN holds their annual conference for service providers on topics which support best practices in working with pregnant or parenting adolescents. The conference theme highlights current issues related to adolescent development and connects these to understanding the impact on young people who are pregnant and /or parenting.
The Conference is typically held in Winnipeg, although in 2015, the event was held in Portage La Prairie, MB. Many community-based programs bring displays to share resources and information about their services with the community partners in attendance.
Each year knowledge exchange opportunities for service providers are offered over a lunch hour. These sessions highlight topics or services related to teen pregnancy and parenting throughout Manitoba. Programs or services outside of Winnipeg are encouraged to participate through Tele-health services in their region. We are always looking for presenters for these sessions so if you are interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information, as well as your topic, a short bio and when you might be interested in presenting.
